Fenland Folk: CLR Events at March Library in 2026
Fenland Folk: Heritage & Landscape is a free programme of events at March Library, celebrating the stories, wildlife and cultural heritage of the Cambridgeshire Fens. This brings together talks, a Family Day, activities and exhibitions, and a programme of activities in local schools.
From folklore to field research, discover what makes the Fens such a unique and ever-changing landscape—and find new ways to connect with the place you call home.

Family Day
Saturday 6th June 2026
12-4 pm
Come and celebrate the stories and animals of the Fenlands with The Centre for Landscape Regeneration and the Museum of Zoology. Click the link for more information on this event. Open to all.
Art Exhibit from Local Schools
20 May – 3 July 2026. This exhibition is created by children at Burrowmoor Primary and All Saints Interchurch Academy, with the Museum of Zoology and artist Rebecca Cahill Roots.
Open during normal library opening hours, drop-in.
Talk Series
A programme of informal talks exploring different aspects of the Fenland landscapes and community.
Each talk will last around one hour and are open to all, no need to register, just come along, refreshments provided.

- Thurs 4 June, 10am: "An introduction to butterflies" with Matt Hayes from the Dept of Zoology, University of Cambridge.
- Friday 12th June, 2pm, "An archaeological journey through the ancient Fens" with Rachel Ballantyne and Phil Stastney, Fenscapes Project, University of Cambridge.
- Tues 23rd June, 2 pm, "In conversation with Laurie Friday", a Fenland champion and ditch-loving ecologist with an unmatched local perspective.
- Tues 30th June, 2 pm, "Looking after peat soils in the Fens" Liz Stockdale (NIAB)
